In conjunction with Carissa’s Bible Bites about teaching our children the truth about beauty, I pulled this post from my archives.
“Mom, is she beautiful??”
In anticipation of questions like this, I memorized this poem:
Beautiful faces are they that wear
The light of a pleasant spirit there.
Beautiful hands are they that do
Deeds that are noble, good, and true.
Beautiful feet are they that go
Swiftly to ease another’s woe.
I say this little rhyme to my one-year-old as I tickle her face, clap her hands, and make her feet jog up and down. Then, of course, I tickle her like crazy afterwords. Viv gets in on the fun, too! Vivienne and I recite the poem when we’re getting ready in the morning… Especially when I’m doing my make-up and I notice her imitating me intently.
I dare you to memorize it this week. It’s catchy!
1 Samuel 16:7 Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.
