Don’t Read My Archives

A brilliant accessory-designer did not create one single hat or handbag during the entire 9 months of pregnancy. She couldn’t; she had absolutely no inspiration. Her creativity was gone. But as soon as her baby was born, she was back to her former swatch-arranging, bobbin-threading self, happily creating better designs than ever before.

I don’t design hats, but I do like to write an original post every now and then. HOWEVER, I’m dry. Of course, our daughters are still rattling off lots of material, but when I sit down to write, I’ve got nothin’. Creativity?? Ha! Not happening.

Or is it?

You see, when we women are pregnant, all of our energy and life-focus is creating a human being. Yes, God is doing the knitting, but He must surely be using my inner supply cabinet, because when I go to look for some odds and ends to throw together, there are no reserves. This baby is not only getting the best of me – he’s getting all of me. And, of course, I’m glad to give it. But it sure explains why I’m drawing a big fat blank whenever I try to sit down to write a post, an article, or a ONE HOUR TALK (due next Thursday). Yikes.

That’s why I’ve been having so much fun going through my archives and reorganizing some of my ancient posts – especially the ones that make me say, “Hmmm… Good point!”  When I first started blogging in 2007, only my mom and maybe you were reading my blog, so I’m hoping that if these reworked blog posts are fresh to me, they’re fresh to you.

So, if you want to continue being pleasantly surprised at 10 Million Miles, don’t go snooping around my archives until I’ve got my reserves back. Then you can snoop all you want and think, “Wait a minute, didn’t she just post something that said the same thing??”

Thanks for the grace…

Oh my, I’m 10 weeks along and I completely understand. My mental creativity and aptitude totally stalls when I’m pregnant, and blogging suddenly becomes very rudimentary and prosaic. Oh well, it’s worth it! And I’ve enjoyed your reposts!

I am so excited! I’mgoing to Relevant 11! I’m so excited to hear you! I will say that you changed my book reading life to my youngsters. After watching your videos, I decided to have much more fun reading to them and now my youngest boy is addicted to mommy reading!! :))

I agree. :)I’m five months pregnant with my third boy :)…Even if I do get a little inspiration, I’m too tired to put the words together at night when the little ones have gone to sleep. Blessings on the rest of your pregnancy.
