My friends told me to register for some baby items… And I need your wise opinions on any baby gear, etc. that I may have missed the first time around (or may need now that I’ll be juggling two). Please let me know the “must haves” that top your list!
I don’t know what I don’t know, but I do know that we need advice on:
* Diaper Bags (Okay, so I was a bit simple the first time around)
* Diaper Pail
* A REAL swaddling Blanket
* Double-stroller
What else?

Maybe this is obvious, but another car seat. Also, the diaper pail’s, in my opinion, are more of a pain then a help – they’re so complicated! For the “stinky” ones, we use a good old plastic bag and then throw it outside with the trash! I really can’t think of anything else. Oh, maybe another laundry basket. Hope this is helpful! 🙂

I could never figure out Diaper Genie’s so I got a Diaper Dekor and I did really like it! It was very easy to use, and the bags fit a ton of diapers and lasted a long time. Past about 6 months though, I just bagged stinky diapers too and took them right to the trash can outside.
I would definitely test drive the double strollers to see what you like (BRU or Baby Depot field trip!) I think it would be tempting to get a Sit N’ Stand, but I’ve heard they can be very heavy and cumbersome… My personal choice would be a Maclaran side by side because they are lightweight, steer like a dream and they are cute! Plus, V. doesn’t seem the type to poke the baby next to her, so you’re good there 😉 The only drawback I can see is not accomadating a infant carseat – but you could always bring the baby out in a Bjorn or sling during those first couple of months.
Diaper bags – you MUST splurge! Having a fluffy diaper bag was such a perk for me when I was covered in spit up and feeling otherwise frumpy. I’ve had a Fleurville Sling Tote – really liked it! Cute patterns and easy to wipe vinyl. I also ordered a Petunia Pickle Bottom boxy backpack and it was just too big for me (I’m a light packer!) plus the velcro was SO loud it would disturb the entire congregation if you needed to grab something out of it on a Sunday morning. However, I now carry a PPB Toddler Tote and while it’s smaller, I am very in love with it (mine is Fond of Flora). They have lots of styles to check out!
What else….hmm…do you have a Moses basket? I wish I’d gotten one with S., but didn’t want to spend the money. I’ve since bought one from my neighbor and I can’t wait to have a 3rd and use it – it seems so convenient for keeping the baby close by for naps. Or say you were giving V. a bath, you could put the baby in there. Or even if you and V. are just playing on the floor – it offers a bit more security then leaving bebe on a blanket.
Do you use hooded towels? Do you have enough for two?
Happy shopping! I am really excited to meet your new little one!!!
You dont have a bouncy seat do you?
Those are amazing!
when I worked at kindercare, that was my favorite thing about the infant room (besides the babies of course).
that is one scary looking rabit up there in that picture!. I sugest you DONT get one of those.
Erin, did YOU enjoy the bouncy seat or did the kids enjoy the bouncy seat???
