It’ll Cost Ya!

Homeschooling tip:

Whenever Vivienne can’t come up with an answer on her own (let’s say she blanks on 8 + 8), she can ask me for the answer, but it costs her!

So, I name my price, which is usually that she has to repeat the question and the answer a certain number of times, and give her the answer.

She thinks it’s fun, the answer sinks in a little deeper, and we both enjoy the ease of learning.

(OF COURSE: If I know she knows the answer or could come up with it on her own with a little more effort, I close up shop. But, sometimes, if she’s draggin’ and our morning is slipping away, this exchange of information helps to spunk her up.)

So, it sounds like this…

V: What’s 8 + 8??

L: I’ll tell you, but it’ll cost you 4 repeats. 8 + 8 is 16!

V: 8 + 8 is 16! 8 + 8 is 16! 8 + 8 is 16! 8 + 8 is 16!
