Ten years ago, my friend filled our van with books, toys, games, and clothes that her kids had outgrown. I gave her a HUGE hug and sped home to stack the books on our shelves, hang the clothes in the closets, and play the games with my children.
It felt like Christmas!
I wish I could do the same for you.
I wish I could fill your van with goodies!
With six kids ages sixteen to two, we’re still passing down clothes and shoes and puzzles here at home. Besides, knowing how *enthusiastically* we wear our shoes and how *passionately* we love our toys, you might not want them by the time we’re done with them anyway. Ahem.
But, surprise! I have far better gifts for you!
I may not be able to give you our hand-me-downs, but I can hand over the gifts I’ve received from God in motherhood so far.
I can share the comfort, insight, and help I’ve gleaned since welcoming our first sweet baby into our home so many years ago.
I can link arms with you and tell you that you are not alone.
I can point you to Jesus, who is with you every moment of every day.
And I can give you a van-full of reasons to lean on him, grow in him, and raise your child out of his great love for you.
You’ll discover these gifts in my new book, Expect Something Beautiful: Finding God’s Good Gifts in Motherhood.
Hold out your arms!
Open your doors!
Get your heart ready!
God will fill you with good gifts – day in and day out.
And it will feel like Christmas.
