On Saturday morning, Vivienne presented a sampling of the work she has completed this year: this wonderful year full of reading, writing, field tripping, counting, measuring, talking, and thinking. As a handful of supportive friends gathered in the living room, Vivienne sang a song, read a book, and answered a few questions about some of her favorite lessons throughout the year. I’m so thankful that she had this experience of giving… for what is the use is learning if we do not offer it with open hands to God and other people?
After the presentation, we enjoyed breakfast at the Waffle Shop (the graduate chose a chocolate chip pancake a big slab of ham) and headed over to Claire’s for her surprise: a couple pairs of earrings! (Yup; it’s been 6 weeks already!)
I’ve been so pleased with the Veritas’ Press Phonics Museum, Saxon Math 1, Learning at Home programs. We’ve laughed and cried through many of the books on Sonlight’s read-aloud list. We have a puffy binder full of Alphabet Letters. And we’ve followed our hearts concerning Science (if you know Viv, you know science is her natural way of life. For instance, while I nap in the afternoons, she happily pipettes colored water into super-absorbent polymers…).
This little girl has worked so happily and diligently by my side. Congratulations, Vivienne!
