Motivate Me Monday: Metamorpho

Perhaps when naming our homeschool, we’ll settle on metamorpho, the Greek word for “be transformed” that Paul used when he penned,

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” (Romans 12:2)

Somehow metamorpho bundles together the vast bouquet of why’s, how’s and what’s that Ryan and I desire to teach our children before they become adults. Love God: Be Like Him! If we can teach them to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord, to heed His Word, to love Him and so to become like Him, we will – wow – we will thank the Lord with humble hearts.

Here’s our simple plan to keep us single-hearted as we go.

We teach:

1. The glorious deeds of the Lord (what God has done in our lives)

2. The might of God (the nature of God)

3. The wonders God has done (what God has done in history)

4. The testimony and law of God (how God wants us to live)

So that they (our children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, etc.):

1. Should set their hope in God

2. Not forget the works of God (which is the basis of their trust in Him)

3. Keep His commandments (the life they will live because of their trust in God)

(Thank you, Noel Piper, for explaining these timeless Psalm 78 directives in Treasuring God in Our Traditions. You’ve helped to clarify our hearts’ desire!)

This is so encouraging. I love the simplicity of the word and what it means. Isn’t that all that we want for our children? It really is that simple!

What a wonderful way to simplify what we have made so difficult! Thank you for your insights into our children (and grandchildren, etc…). I have Romans 12:2 at the top of my blog as a daily reminder for myself too! Thank you!

Laura, have I ever told you that I think you are a gem?!

Thank you for this wonderful post – I think I’m going to print it out! I also want to thank you for reading the directions for linking up – I think I am going to have to explain them more clearly! Also, I am in the same process of trying to name our homeschool – I love what you have picked, it’s perfect. 🙂

    Have a GREAT day!

This is such a great post! I love how you’ve laid things out … what goals to have for our children!

Looks like you are definately on the right track…the challenge is to keep on keeping on it…thank you. You have really challenged me to think about some goals for our family. It’s like I have them in my head, but don’t really plan to work toward them.

Let's keep in touch!
