Seeing Jesus through Our Sin

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=onxhvivQYfIOn Sunday morning, our pastor spoke about how Jesus’ temptation not to go to the cross must have been so immense – not just because of the impending physical pain – but also because of the heartache of becoming the curse of sin. Isaiah 53:6 says that God has laid all of our sin on Jesus; Paul says, “He became sin for us”.Perhaps one of the reasons we humans struggle to look at Jesus – and why His name continues to be the most controversial name of all time – is because, in order to see Him correctly, we have to acknowledge that He’s wearing our sin; in order to see the long-awaited Messiah, we have to face all of the ugliness and death that we otherwise like to cover up with political correctness, charity, and a convincing smile. This can be quite unnerving… unless, of course, we’ve received the grace to acknowledge the ugliness… and that’s when we catch our first glimpse of the strong Savior who has paid for it all.
