about

Hi, there! I’m Laura.

I’m the author of Expect Something Beautiful: Finding God’s Good Gifts in Motherhood. And the host of the Expect Something Beautiful Podcast produced by Revive Our Hearts.

I’ve got lots of kids around here…six of them! And I educate them at home, which means that I spend my days praying, snuggling, laughing, reading aloud, preparing food, resolving conflict, sneaking chocolate, matching socks, and expounding on the importance of fresh air and exercise. 😉

I’m also a member of the Church, a friend, a writer, and a teacher.

I love to laugh. I love a good hike and a good adventure. I love having a catch, playing the piano, reading, writing, and watching people do things they were born to do.

I love Jesus because He first loved me. He is my hope.

And I love to discover the real-time application of the Bible and share it with readers like you. Scripture is for us and we are wise to read and embrace it. How generous of God to provide a light for our pilgrim path.

I hope you find something uplifting and helpful here.

I’m cheering you on!

This blog was originally inspired by two songs: Patty Griffin’s incredible encore, “10 Million Miles,“and Fanny Crosby’s hymn, “All the Way My Savior Leads Me”. Here’s a version of the hymn adapted by Chris Tomlin:

All the way my Savior leads me
Who have I to ask beside
How could I doubt His tender mercy
Who through life has been my guide

All the way my Savior leads me
Cheers each winding path I tread
Gives me grace for every trial
Feeds me with the living Bread

You lead me and keep me from falling
You carry me close to Your heart
And surely Your goodness and
mercy will follow me

All the way my Savior leads me
O, the fullness of His love
O, the sureness of His promise
In the triumph of His blood
And when my spirit clothed immortal
Wings it’s flight to realms of day
This my song through endless ages
Jesus led me all the way
Jesus led me all the way

All the way my Savior leads me
All the way my Savior leads me

What about you?

Who are you and what do you love?
