Winds of Change

This summer, Ryan built a windmill.

The wind spins the blades, which

send power through a long black tube,

running across the field and into the pond,

where it is attached to an aerator

that sits in a bucket

at the bottom of the pond.

The aerator sends air bubbles up to the surface of the pond

to control the tiny algae,

so that, by next spring, when the buds are returning to the trees,

and the ducks are looking for the perfect place to build their nest,

we can paddle around in our paddle boat,

and wave at the windmill.

Now, that’s what I call some winds of change.
